We’re still swooning over our NYC engagement photos from this Fall! We really wanted our engagement session to feel relaxed and like us. So, we basically planned a fun date night and asked our photographer to come along to document it!
We started out at our neighborhood Scottish bar, The Hunterian UES, where you can usually find us during happy hour. We got our usual drinks, took some photos, and had so much fun. If you want to incorporate photos at a bar during your engagement session, I highly recommend going there first! The drinks loosened us up and made us feel comfy in front of the camera pretty quickly. It will also be so fun to look back on these photos years later and remember the neighborhood bar we always used to go to!
Next, we did a quick outfit change and then walked over to a pretty brownstone street in our Upper East Side neighborhood. My mom was nice enough to help us include our pup, Charlie, in this part of our session! We took some photos along the street and on a classic NYC stoop before heading to our final stop, Central Park. My tote bag aka purse may or may not have got stolen while we were on this street! Long story short, we got it back but not until later that night so I was stuck wearing my heels for the rest of our NYC engagement session. If you’re a New Yorker, you know that a change of shoes is essential at all times in this city, haha! But we made the best of it and at least the shoes were cute! Scroll down for the pics to prove it of me barefoot in Central Park.
We finished our NYC engagement photos at one of our favorite spots in the city – Central Park. We wanted to do our engagement photos in the park because Mike was originally planning to propose here before knowing the weather would impact his plans. You can read more about our proposal story and what he ended up surprising me with instead, here!
We walked through Bethesda Terrace and ended our session with photos along Bow Bridge and the surrounding benches. Fun fact: in 2020, Mike and I would walk to this spot in Central Park almost every day. It quickly became such a special place for us and honestly brought us such comfort and peace during a hard year, so it was really meaningful to capture this exciting season of life together in the same spot.
We had such a blast during our engagement session and the photos completely blew us away. We’re so grateful to our wonderful wedding photographer, Rachel Joy Monet, for these incredible photos that we’ll forever cherish!
